This is the written Media Portion of my media portfolio. This will share a range of articles containing research-based writing as well as direct interviews and experiences.
This article was created as a part of the Online StoryTelling Class Curriculum. My passion for the ski industry, the people in it, and my local mountain sparked my interest in creating this piece. Not only are my written skills on display but so are my photographic skills. The mountains hold a special place in my life and I love to capture them in the best way possible whether that is through words, photos, or videos.
The real Problem with Epic Resorts
I created this article because I see a major issue in the industry and the current direction the industry is headed. I acknowledge conglomerate passes and companies are a big discussion that needs to be talked about more. I want the ski industry to last and be accessible to many, but like many things in life, there must be a balance.
Snowboarding Interview, a Q&A with sponsored rider Brody Sanderson
This alternative media piece was a part of the curriculum for my Online Storytelling and Audience Engagement class. I created it to put the spotlight on a local rider who has been a part of the snowsports community and puts a lot back into it as well. This piece demonstrates some versatility in written media to reach different audiences.
Climate Change Consequences in Colorado
I created this article during Colorado’s largest wildfire, engulfing Cameron’s Peak, Just outside of Fort Collins. I have a passion for the outdoors which struck my desire to create this piece as so much of it was falling to ashes around me. I utilized local interviews, research, and my experiences to create this piece. This required a fair bit of planning and execution, Luckily I had a fair bit of time on my hands as I avoided the mountains awaiting the fire to burn out.
